An occasional cold clears in a week or two. Sinus symptoms that last twelve weeks or more are a different matter and are called chronic sinusitis.
Why it persists
Swollen lining, polyps, a deviated septum or allergies can keep the drainage channels blocked. Repeating antibiotics without finding the reason often does not solve the problem.
How it is assessed
A quick nasal endoscopy in the clinic lets the ENT surgeon see the passages directly. Scans are used when needed to plan treatment.
Treatment options
Many people improve with nasal sprays, saline irrigation and allergy control. If a structural cause remains, endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) or septal correction can restore drainage through the nostrils, without cuts on the face.
